Screen resolution of a digital TV typically refers to the number of distinct pixels in each dimension that can be displayed. Typical TV panels offer a resolution of 768 horizontal lines that are split by 1024 (up to 1366) rows into 1 million pixels. These panels are termed as HD Ready TVs. The picture on a high quality panel screen has up to 1080 horizontal lines and contains up to 2 million pixels, which are Full HD TVs.
Compared to former CRT TVs, a Full HD TV can display 5 times more picture detail.
